Dear Future Client,
Hello, how are you doing? I mean, how are you really doing? If you are reading this, odds are you may be struggling and I am so glad you are looking into getting support. Let me tell you a bit about who I am and what I do.
I strive to provide space for clients to process what is happening presently, what has happened in the past, and what they want for their futures. I specialize in working with survivors of all types of trauma. I have a passion for helping people understand and heal cycles of generationally passed down trauma. As a mother myself, I really enjoy working with all types and styles of parents. I am also trained in providing therapy specific to oppressed groups, such as those who identify as LGBTQIA and people of color.
I view trauma as wounds that occur emotionally, physically, cognitively, and socially. I believe trauma and stress can cause us to disconnect from ourselves and others and without connection, we cannot heal. Therefore the work I do with clients often focuses upon healing emotionally, cognitively, socially, and physically. As these domains within are restored, we can work on reconnecting with ourselves and others, allowing for our full, unfragmented, real, and genuine selves to emerge. Concepts related to reconnecting with authentic self and others are central to the work I do with all clients, including those suffering from symptoms related to anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex PTSD, ADHD, disordered eating, addiction, dissociative disorders, postpartum mental health, alternative personality traits (AKA personality disorders), and experiencing reality differently. Some of the therapeutic modalities I often utilize include person-centered, relational cultural, dialectical behavioral, somatic-based, attachment-based, family systems-based, mindfulness based, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and internal family systems.
I obtained my master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Montana State University. I am currently a professional counselor licensure candidate (PCLC) in the state of Montana, supervised by Lexi Frank Newhall, LCPC.
As a Montana native, I care immensely about the mental and emotional well-being of our community and the people within it. Like many Montanans, I believe in the power of nature and enjoy spending time outdoors. I also like reading for pleasure, cooking, spending time with loved ones, and just moving my body!
Fondly,
Jenica
