Our Specialties

Our Bozeman therapists are trained in a variety of modalities to best support each of our clients with wholeness, kindness and compassion.

Individual Counseling

We see individuals who are pre-teens through adulthood. Our techniques range from clinician to clinician but all of us welcome clients who might be struggling with:

Trauma/childhood trauma, anxiety, miscarriage, infertility, women’s health, LGBTQ+, ADHD, sexual assault, grief/loss, life transitions, family of origin, relationship issues, depression, challenges at work, stress management and everyday life. All therapists take insurance but sliding scale rates are also available.

Couples Counseling

Anam Cara is excited to start seeing couples in January 2024. We draw from PACT, EFT, attachment theory, polyvegal theory and the Gottman Method. Therapists charge clients directly for couples therapy but will provide super bills so that the couple can get reimbursed for the session from participating insurance companies.

Perinatal Mental Health

All of the clinicians at Anam Cara have a special interest in helping families from conception onward. We all have PMADs training and we are well versed in helping couples or individuals who are struggling with infertility, child care issues, loss, lack of family support, birth trauma, single parenting and more. We work closely with Roots Family Collaborative and we stay current on where people can find doulas, feeding and sleeping support, body work and support groups wherever they are in their parenting journey. Lexi Frank Newhall runs a workshop called Mindful Mamas at least twice a year for new moms.

Somatic Therapy

Every therapist at Anam Cara has a somatic foundation to their counseling style. Of course we all have our special interests like narrative therapy, mindfulness, CBT, DBT or even touch/table work but we are all grounded in the idea that ‘the body keeps the score’ (Bessel van der Kolk) and believe that the deepest healing happens when we help the body release the trauma that lives in the body.

Supervision

Lexi Frank Newhall provides supervision to pre-licensed professional counseling candidates. She has been supervising for over seven years and loves the mentorship relationship. She welcomes candidates who are interested in learning somatic therapy, perinatal mental health, mindfulness based practices, attachment theory and holistic mental health. Lexi is open to working with candidates who want to see individuals, couples, adults and teens. She does not see clients under the age of 14, so she does not supervise people who want to provide child therapy services. Feel free to reach out to Lexi directly if you are interested in receiving supervision.
